Dresses: Comfortable, But Fit Varies Piece to Piece
I tried two dresses from Halara, and they landed pretty differently.
The Breezeful Midi Dress in a 2X was lightweight, almost windbreaker-like in fabric, which makes it genuinely great for warm weather or sweating through summer activities. It has pockets, which is always a win, and a front tie that you can style multiple ways depending on the look you're going for. My main critique was the cap sleeves, which felt a little in-between, not quite short enough and not quite long enough. Sizing-wise, this ran big through the hips, so sizing down is worth considering here too.
The Easy Peezy Active Dress in a 3X was genuinely one of the most clever designs I've tried from any brand. It has a built-in skort feature that lets you lift the skirt and pull the shorts down separately, so you're not fully undressing in a public bathroom. That alone deserves recognition. Fit-wise, it runs a little big through the bust since it has built-in padding that isn't especially supportive, and I'd size down to a 2X if I ordered this again. If you want more support, I'd genuinely recommend wearing a bra underneath rather than relying on the built-in padding alone.
Tops: Limited Selection, But What I Tried Worked
I only tried one top in this haul, the U Neck Backless Tank Top in a 2X, and it ran a little tight, mostly because it kept riding up over my belly throughout the day. This felt more like a fit quirk related to my specific shape than a true sizing issue, so your experience may vary depending on your proportions. It's a cute, simple piece that layers well, which is good, because I ended up wearing it under nearly every other item in this haul just to streamline outfit testing.
Bottoms: Where Halara Really Shines
Bottoms were the strongest category by far in this Halara plus size review, and I tried several different styles.
The High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans in a 3X regular were not really my personal style, and they ran significantly long on me. This wasn't a quality issue, just a personal preference around silhouette and proportion, so if you love a wide leg look, don't let my experience deter you.
The High Waisted Mini Corduroy Skirt, which I tried in two colors, had an attached short underneath that I wished ran a bit longer and tighter. At a 5-inch inseam, it rode up more than I'd like, whereas my personal sweet spot for built-in shorts is closer to 7 inches. If Halara offered a longer inseam option on this style, I think it would solve the issue entirely. I did love the small detail of the shorts color matching the skirt tone, light shorts under the lighter skirt, black shorts under the darker one.
The High Waisted Crossover Jeans in a 3X were genuinely not the right silhouette for my belly shape, since the crossover front detail created an unflattering line for my body specifically. That said, the fabric itself was incredibly soft and stretchy, the pockets were fully functional, and I think these are absolutely worth the price if the silhouette works for your body. My recommendation is to size down to a 2X.
The High Waisted Straight Leg Work Pants in a 3X were a genuine standout. Stretchy, comfortable, and polished enough to wear somewhere more professional. I especially appreciated that there's no front button or metal hardware, which for me personally prevents that annoying rubbing and wear pattern I've dealt with in jeans my whole life. They do have belt loops if you want to cinch them for a more tailored look. I'd size down to a 2X here as well.
And finally, the true standout of this entire haul: the UltraSculpt High Waisted Tummy Control Bootcut Leggings in a 3X. I started wearing these immediately after unboxing them, and they've genuinely become a staple. The front sits high enough that there's no camel toe situation happening, which I deeply appreciate, and the tummy control panel actually delivers without feeling restrictive. I've already reordered these in a smaller size and a different color because I loved them that much.
Overall Halara Plus Size Verdict
After trying eight different pieces across dresses, tops, and bottoms, my honest takeaway is that Halara is worth the hype, with a few caveats. The fabric quality across nearly everything was soft, stretchy, and well-constructed, especially in their bottoms. My main critique of Halara as a brand is that their plus size selection still lags noticeably behind their straight size offerings. A lot of their cuter colorways and prints are harder to find in extended sizes, and much of what is available in plus sizes leans heavily toward black. If you're someone who loves color and print the way I do, this is worth knowing going in.
Bottoms are genuinely their strongest category for plus size shoppers, but they do offer dresses, skirts, and cardigans as well, so it's not purely an activewear brand. If I had to summarize this Halara plus size review in one sentence: good quality, worth the money, just remember to size down.
